The Checotah Wildcats celebrated Homecoming week by wearing sports jerseys on Tuesday and neon on Wednesday. Then Thursday they had a color war with 9th grade wearing yellow, 10th wearing green, 11th wearing purple and 12th wearing pink. Friday was blue and white day for all students and staff as they showed their true blue colors.
Thursday evening the community showed up to cheer on the Wildcats at their Homecoming Parade downtown as the band played, the football royalty showed off their style and each class showed their class spirit with some cool floats this year.
However, it was the Friday Homecoming pep assembly when the gloves came off and cheers went out as the Wildcats raised the roof, competing for first place with their class. All classes gave it their best shot, but the Sophomore Class finally topped the Senior Class in the finals and won with the loudest cheering ever. Seniors didn’t walk away disappointed though, as Principal Jennifer Campbell announced they had won spirit week and the excitement could not be contained as a roar went out from their class.
Homecoming Royalty looked fabulous on the court and on the field.
Checotah Football Homecoming Royalty consisted of the following: Freshman attendant Sydnie West, accompanied by Arthur Charles Hall and Zachery Townsend.
Sophomore attendant Logan Dowdy, escorted by Jaydon Casey and Dallas Carter.
Junior attendant Kenadee Jones, escorted by Brian Love and Dax Harding.
Senior attendant Jazlyn Atkins, escorted by Elijah Thomas.
Senior attendant Lexie Inez Beene, escorted by Preston Cannon.
Senior attendant Sidney Hamilton, escorted by Jordan Ellen.
Senior Hailey Prince, escorted by Dylan Robinson.
The Homecoming flower girl was Londyn Grace Hill and the crown bearer was Madden Love.
Senior Hailey Prince was crowned the 2024 Football Homecoming Queen by Homecoming King Elijah Thomas before the game.
Though the game didn’t go as planned with the Wildcats losing to the Chieftains, Checotah still celebrated a great week and ended it with their Homecoming Dance.
