The Checotah Landmark Preservation Society celebrated 40 years with a Cornhole at the Depot Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 7.
The tournament was a fundraiser and CLPS volunteers served hotdogs, chips and a drink for $3.
Eight teams paid $25 each to participate in the event and had lots of fun on a cool September morning as bags began to fly at 10 a.m. Teams were from out of town and tough, but when the dust settled only one team was left standing with bragging rights -Kristie Jackson and Brian Proctor. Their team won first place in the double elimination competition.
Daylen Warrior and Madison Proctor took second place and Hillary Martin and Tyler Brummett took third.
The first place winners walked away with $200, second place won $100 and third place won $50.
CLPS was thankful for the City of Checotah’s support and Freedom House ladies for all their help.
The Katy is currently only open on Saturdays but has a vast array of local history memorabilia. CLPS is proud to have supported the Katy for all these years and volunteers have been glad to keep the museum up and running. Much needed maintenance will begin on the Katy Depot’s north end this week.
