Checotah Lady Wildcats storm past Glenpool, 10-6
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Checotah Lady Wildcats powered their way to a 10-6 victory over Glenpool on Tuesday night, extending their win streak to two with an offensive explosion early.

Shaelynn Casey got things rolling in the first inning with an RBI single to give Checotah the lead. Carly Dismukes kept the momentum going in the second, hammering a triple to center that sparked two more runs.

The Wildcats truly broke the game open in the third inning, erupting for six runs on just three hits. Teagan Madewell worked a walk to force in one run, a costly Glenpool error allowed three more to score, Dismukes drew another bases-loaded walk, and Shyanne Madewell ripped a double to cap the rally.

Casey wasn’t just clutch at the plate, she earned the win in the circle. The starter struck out eight and walked only two, scattering five hits across seven innings while limiting Glenpool to just two earned runs.

Checotah’s lineup was relentless, pounding out 12 hits. Sydnie West provided a spark from the eighth spot in the order, driving in three runs. Casey, Dismukes, Aurora Madewell, and Teagan Madewell each tallied two hits in the balanced attack.

“I’m really proud of this team. They never gave up and they competed hard all game. They never gave up,” Checotah head coach Levi Walker said.

For Glenpool, Dobbs delivered two RBIs in the middle of the lineup while Goodvoice, Baker, Kendrick, Bible, and Culley each chipped in a hit. Despite turning a double play, Glenpool couldn’t overcome Checotah’s early offensive surge.

The Lady Wildcats’ depth and determination proved too much as they notched another big win to keep their momentum rolling.

Lady Wildcats’ bats can’t overcome Fort Gibson’s clutch plays in 4-1 battle

The Checotah Lady Wildcats swung the bats with power Thursday night, out-hitting Fort Gibson 6-3, but couldn’t turn the hits into runs, falling 4-1 to the Lady Tigers.

Sydnie West sparked Checotah’s offense with two solid hits, while Shaelynn Casey drove in the Lady Wildcats’ lone run. Despite Checotah’s six hits, timely defense and pitching from Fort Gibson kept them from mounting a comeback.

Fort Gibson struck first in the opening frame when Jayda Wood grounded out to bring in a run. They added another in the second on a Leila Lone groundout and then capitalized on a Checotah miscue in the third, pushing across two more runs for a 4-1 advantage.

Casey went the distance for Checotah, battling through six innings. She allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking out four. Across the diamond, Fort Gibson ace Karsen Pemberton was dominant, striking out 10 Lady Wildcats and walking only one in a complete-game performance.

The Lady Tigers got production throughout their lineup, with Skyla Oden, Miley Wafford, and Baylor Rouse each notching a hit. Lone and Wood provided the RBIs that padded Fort Gibson’s lead. Importantly, the Lady Tigers were flawless in the field, playing error-free softball.
