Annabelle Payne, 86-year -old Morris resident, passed away on Jan. 20, 2020 in Tulsa. She was born Nov. 23, 1933 in Checotah, Oklahoma to John and Lue Vena Karr. She was one of eight children.
Annabelle graduated from Checotah High School in 1951. After being introduced by her sister Patsy, Annabelle married Clyde Payne in 1952. In 1966, they moved to Morris, Oklahoma where she lived the remainder of her life.
She often spoke of her years selling Avon.
She enjoyed sewing, meeting weekly with the Gas City Sewing Club where she sewed and Wayne and Rodney enjoyed the lunch the ladies provided.
She was known for baking special cakes for family birthdays.
She was active in the Baptist church where she was a leader for Girls in Action, and cared for children in the nursery.
Until her decline in health, she especially loved attending church activities.
Annabelle also loved get-togethers with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Annabelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde; her brothers, Robert and Richard Karr; her sisters, Billie Amoruso, Gloria “Susie” Trusley, and Patsy Patterson.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Payne and his wife Donna of Morris, Rodney Payne and his wife Joan of Still-water, and Regina Payne of Morris; her grandchildren, Matthew Payne and his wife Brandy of Morris, Jessica Payne of St. Louis, Aundy Duclos and her husband Isaac of Morris, Justin Payne of Morris, and Danielle Payne of Morris; great-grandchildren, Emma Duclos, Alex Duclos, and Aurora Payne, all of Morris; a sister, Bobbie Lerblance of Checotah; a sister, Mary and brother-in-law, Bill Morgan of Hugo, a brother-in-law, Juney Patterson of Oklahoma City; along with many other relatives and friends.
The family received friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Checotah Funeral & Cremation Service.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 at Trinity Baptist Church.
Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Johnny Trusley, Matthew Payne, Larry Johnson, Isaac Duclos, Justin Payne, and Andy Lerblance.
