Doris Elsie Curtis

Doris Elsie Curtis, 102, dietician, passed away July 26, 2019 in Checotah, Oklahoma. Doris was born April 8, 1917 in Sugarland, Texas, to Edd Harold and Alice Eugene Hoot. Alice grew up in New Mexico and Texas. On July 10, 1937, at the age of 20, she married Clark Curtis and they moved to Oklahoma. They owned and operated the 70 Café in Ringling, Oklahoma for several years before they moved to Century, Arkansas in 1960. In Arkansas, Doris was employed as a dietician at Siloam Springs Hospital. In 1983, she moved back to Oklahoma to be closer to family and then her husband, Clark, passed away in 2000. Doris is a member of First Baptist Church of Checotah, Oklahoma. From their union, Clark and Doris had three children; the late Stanley Curtis and wife Sally of Phoenix, Ariz.; the late Della Curtis; and Jim Curtis and his wife Wanda of Checotah, Okla. Doris lived with her son Jim and his wife Wanda until her passing. Doris is also survived by five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Checotah, Oklahoma. Under the direction of Checotah Funeral Service.
