Earl Dee Fairchilds
Earl Dee Fairchilds, lifetime Checotah resident, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 at the age of
68. He was born on Sunday, March 4, 1951 in Checotah to Virgil “Nuke” and Ruby (Nichols) Fairchilds. Earl was raised on the family farm on Texanna Road and graduated in 1970. Earl joined the National Guard in 1972 and served until 1976. He married Angela Mounger in 1973. Earl went to work for Checotah Water Department for nine years. In 1986, Earl went to work for Georgia-Pacific in Muskogee, where he worked as an equipment operator, retiring in 2006. At the time of his death he was working part-time for Red Dirt Environmental. Earl enjoyed helping his parents on the family farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He will be remembered by his family as a generous man and was known to be able to fix anything. Earl will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Ruby Fairchilds. Earl is survived by his two sons, Brian Fairchilds and Preston Fairchilds; his grandson, Spencer Fairchilds; Spencer’s mom, Joye Lane; his sister, Kathy Mann and her husband Larry; his brother, Wayne Fairchilds and his wife Linda all of Checotah. He is also survived by a niece, Becky and nephews, Danny, Dustin and Jeff. Viewing for Earl was held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2019 at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating the life of Earl were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019 in the Serenity Chapel of Garrett Family Funeral Home with Reverend Benji Bartlett, ministering.
