Joseph Morgan LeMasters Jr.
Joseph Morgan LeMasters Jr. was born June 6, 1943, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Joseph Morgan LeMasters and Johnnie LeMasters. He graduated from Checotah High School in 1961.
After graduating High School he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern State College.
He went into the Army Reserves and then went on to get his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa.
Joseph had a long career in the legal field. He was appointed by Governor George Nigh as an Associate District Judge in 1981. He faithfully served as the Associate District Judge for 10 years. He was the city attorney for the City of Checotah for 35 years and had his own private practice in Checotah, Oklahoma.
He was very involved in his community.
He was a lifelong member and Sunday School teacher for the First United Methodist Church. He was involved with the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters.
He met the love of his life, Leta Le-Masters, at Northeastern State College. They were married on March 22, 1963, up until Leta’s death on April 3, 2020. They have 3 children; Joseph Morgan LeMasters III, Darcey Lynn Adamek, and Casey Elizabeth Bone.
He is survived by his children, daughter-in-law, Jennifer LeMasters, sons-in-law, Jim Adamek and Christopher Bone. He also is survived by his brother Rodger LeMasters and wife Pat LeMasters, his grandchildren, Katy LeMasters, Lauren LeMasters, Jaryn Adamek, Adyson Adamek, Jonathan Bone, and Vivian Bone. Also, many special nieces and nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Leta, his parents and extended family members.
A memorial service will take place on Oct. 30, 2020 at First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m., either in person or live stream.
