Lawrence Ray Rigney

Feb. 7, 1921 – Nov. 15, 2019

Lawrence Ray Rigney, Checotah resident, passed away on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019 in Eufaula. He was born on Monday, Feb. 7, 1921 to George Floyd and Bertha Ellen (Adams) Rigney in Onapa, Oklahoma.

On Saturday, June 14, 1941, Lawrence married Dorotha L. Williams in Checotah.

He was at various times in his long life a carpenter, homebuilder, rancher, fisherman and gardener.

He especially loved playing with his grandkids.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Dorotha, October 13, 2014 and his parents.

He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Carolyn Burnett and husband Johnny of Broken Arrow, Larry Rigney and wife Margaret of Checotah.

Lawrence is also survived by three grandchildren, David Burnett of Broken Arrow, Jana Tabberer and husband Chris of Broken Arrow and Samantha Rigney of Ft. Gibson; three great grandchildren, Kierstin Bradbury and her husband Gavin of Broken Arrow, Erin Tabberer of Oklahoma City and Jordan Tabberer of Broken Arrow; and one great-great grandchild, Peyton Bradbury of Broken Arrow; on brother, Leroy Rigney of Sequin, Texas, as well as other extended family and a lifetime of friends.

Services celebrating the life of Lawrence were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019 at Garrett’s Serenity Chapel with Reverend Don Tabberer officiating.

Committal prayers and interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett.

Jay Emerson, Josh Emerson, David Burnett, Chris Tabberer, Ike Webster and Mick Lunt served as Casket Bearers.
