The University of Oklahoma unveiled a statue of former Sooner quarterback Kyler Murray before the Sooners’ spring football game this past Saturday.
The former OU won the Heisman Trophy in 2018. During that season, Murray threw for 4,361 yards and 42 touchdowns, added 1,001 yards and 12 scores on the ground.
Murray led the Sooners to a 12-2 season that featured a Big 12 Championship Game victory over rival Texas and a College Football Playoff appearance.
Over 54,000 fans showed up for the spring football game. Murray was in good company as former Heisman winners Baker Mayfield, Billy Sims, Steve Owens and Jason White and head coach Bob Stoops were by his side.
“This place means the world to me. I had a rocky start to my college career. I chose the wrong school. As soon as I stepped on campus (Oklahoma), I texted my Pops-I told him, “I should have been here the whole time,” Murray said.
