Eufaula resident Lawrence Anthony Turner, 68, has been charged in Pittsburg County District Court with three counts of assault, battery or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of child neglect and one count of operating a vessel while intoxicated.
According to investigators the charges were led May 30, stemming from a boating incident that took place on Lake Eufaula at the Austa Vista ramp about ½ mile south of Longtown on May 27.
Turner is alleged to have purposefully rammed his boat into a vessel driven by a Department of Wildlife o_cer.
_ere were no injuries in the collision. Turner pled not guilty at his initial appearance and was released on a $10,000 bond.
He is scheduled for a hearing at 9 a.m. on June 22. A report by the OHP said at about 7 p.m. on the day of the incident Turner, allegedly intoxicated, was driving a 2014 Bennington 25-foot Tritoon near Longtown when he rammed a 2004 Blue Wave, 19-foot Department of Wildlife boat operated by Shane Fields, 51, of McAlester.
Fields was stopped in a boat slip at the dock waiting for information from a woman he was questioning about a shing license.
Turner is alleged to have pulled up and confronted Fields about the boat slip and then intentionally rammed the rear of the vessel operated by Fields.
Turner’s boat contained himself, four other adults and three juveniles, the OHP report stated.
_ere were two adult passengers in Fields’ vessel.
