Mentoring young boys to become real men

Gentlemen’s Bootcamp: ‘Tools for Success’ series kicks o_ this Friday, June 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Carlton Landing near Eufaula. s is a free event for any young men ages 13 – 18 who are interested in being mentored to become real men and true gentlemen in society today.

Tyler Warrior is the creator of the project and is in the process of lining up several outstanding mentors for these young men to learn from in many di_erent areas of their lives.

Warrior had been working as the Interconnected Systems

SEE GENTLEMEN’S BOOTCAMP, PAGE A2 Framework Specialist with Project AWARE when the idea came to him.

“I created this bootcamp because I noticed how many young men do not have a male mentor in their life,” Warrior said. “So many mothers, mine included, are forced to try to teach young boys how to become young gentlemen. I know my mother, Keyle Warrior, did her best with me, but I think every young man craves that “big brother” connection, especially whenever their fathers are absent. I believe too many young men are missing out on such valuable skills that could potentially change the trajectory of their entire lives. at’s why this bootcamp was born. I want to give these young men the tools they need to succeed and become the gentlemen they created to be.”

e special speaker for the _rst bootcamp session will be Chris Ham. Ham serves on the Scissortail Realty Group in Oklahoma and proudly serves Carlton Landing, Lake Eufaula, Checotah and McAlester. As a lifelong Oklahoma resident, he is a native of the Eufaula area and has been raised around the lake since birth. Striving for excellence, Ham serves customers everyday under the leadership of Lindsey Morris along with the other members of e Lindsey Morris Real Estate Group. He is passionate about God, family and business. He also believes in prayer, relationships, hard work, loyalty and dedication, bringing ful_llments by serving others in the highest level of expertise. He will be speaking to at the _rst bootcamp about entrepreneurship, _nance and credit.

“ough this is a free event, it is limited to the _rst 15 young men who sign up. So please contact me as soon as possible so I can reserve your spot. Signups will close on Friday, June 23 at noon. e _rst 15 candidates will receive details of where to meet and one young man will walk away with $50 a_er the bootcamp session. Food will also be provided a_er each session.

“If any men in the community are interested in being a special speaker please contact me as soon as possible. e past two weeks I have had a few di rent gentlemen reach out to me about skills or topics that they feel are important for young men to learn so I have decided to change up the Gentlemen’s Bootcamp a bit. Instead of me choosing the topics, the mentors will choose what topics they feel are bene_cial to becoming a gentleman.

“I want to be a mentor to young men in our community who might not have father _gures or older brothers to look up to. is past year working with the Checotah Public School District under the AWARE grant has been one of the best experiences of my life and I feel like I have learned so much that I want to give back. Because of that experience, I knew I wanted to have a permanent position within Checotah schools. So I recently accepted the position of being a 4th grade English/Language Arts teacher at Checotah Intermediate School and I can’t wait to start being a role model for my students. It’s all about training up young people to become everything they were meant to be within their communities and beyond.”

Adam White will be the second guest speaker for the Gentlemen’s Bootcamp on July 14. For more information contact Tyler Warrior at 539-278-1542 to sign up.
