MUSKOGEE – Wendy Dawn Johnson, 38, of Eufaula, has been sentenced to 36 months in prison for Involuntary Manslaughter in Indian Country, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced last week.
The charge arose from an investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
On January 13, 2022, Johnson pleaded guilty to the charge.
On March 18, 2021, Johnson was driving on State Highway 9 in Eufaula with a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit. She crossed the center line and struck an oncoming car, killing the driver. crime occurred in McIntosh County, within the boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation and within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The Honorable Jodi W. Dishman, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, sitting by assignment, presided over the hearing in Muskogee. Johnson will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.
