Police stated three people are dead in Muskogee after a shooting they believe to have been a murder-suicide.
Muskogee police officers responded to a 911 call from a home shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday, June 26. The call was from a woman who claimed “there was a disturbance and someone had a gun” then she hung up. Investigators believe that woman was 68-year-old Terry Janway who is suspected of shooting and killing her husband, 69-year-old Jack Janway, along with their 11-year-old grandson, Dalton Janway, before she killed herself.
According to a Muskogee Police report, authorities found the first body “lying in the hallway inside the front door” when they arrived at the address. Then they heard “another gunshot from further inside the house.” An officer then found two more bodies, that of Terry and Dalton, in another location in the home.
Jack was a revered chiropractor in the Muskogee area. Jack and Terry’s daughter, Chandra, is the wife of NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson. Dalton was a fifth grade student in Muskogee at Sadler Arts Academy. Muskogee public information officer Lynn Hamlin told media that the department had received no prior calls of any domestic violence situations at the home prior to the tragedy.
