Meet Tracie Mathews, a paraprofessional at Marshall Elementary.
Mathews is a 2014 Checotah graduate with a child development degree in early education. This is her first year at Checotah but she was formerly at Muskogee County Head Start for four and a half years.
“I have had many great teachers in my life who have pushed me to be the best I can be,” Mathews said. “They nev- er stopped pushing me, even when I wanted to give up and that’s why I’m here today to help push other children who may want to just give up and quit. I was to inspire them to chase their dreams no matter what!
“I love to teach because you never know who you are going to reach and I especially love all the hugs.
“At 28 years old, I have lived in Checotah most of my life. I love cows and kids. They are some of my favorite things in the world, other than my family of course. I enjoy spending time with the ones I love and going to little league football on Saturdays. I also like going with my husband to feed the cows.”
Tracie is married to Earl (Bubba) Mathews. She has one 18-year-old stepson, Jordan Vance, who just graduated from Checotah and is enlisted in the United States Army and stationed in Colorado. She also has custody of her 7-year-old nephew, Jaxson Doss who is a 2nd grader at Marshall.
