While Eufaula’s September tax receipts down from last year

The Oklahoma Tax Commission recently released city sales tax collection figures that primarily represents local tax receipts from September business. The money they reported this period represents sales from Sept. 16 to 30 and estimated sales from Oct 1 to 15.

Eufaula sales tax collections for the month of September, 2023 dropped seven percent compared to collections during the same period in 2022. The city has a sales tax of 3.5 percent.

Collections this past September amounted to $236,149.49 on taxable sales of $6,747,128.29. A year ago, the collections were $254,152.68 on taxable sales of $7,261,505.14.

Checotah’s tax collection showed little change between September, 2023 and September 2022.

This past September the city, which has a four percent sales tax, collected $419,981.03 on taxable sales of $10,499,525.75. In 2022 the collection was $421,928.75 on sales of $10,548.218.75 Statewide, the disbursement of $199,342,262 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $6,324,768 from the $193,017,494 distributed to the cities and towns in November last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $34,557,964 according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $33,674,125 sales tax disbursement and a $6,223,765 use tax disbursement.

McIntosh County experienced a five percent decline. In 2023 the county collected $422,444 compared to $443,100.25 in September, 2022.
