Mt. Olive Church and Pastor Sam Cunningham will be hosting their 15th Annual Feeding All Souls Christmas Dinner on Monday, December 25 at the Checotah Multi-Purpose Building located at 201 Owens Ave. The free dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be curbside pickup only There will be no inside dining but no limit on meals.

The Christmas dinner is sponsored by the Mount Olive Star Missionary Baptist Church/Food located at 413665 E. 1080 Rd in Checotah and will consist of Turkey and homemade dressing, ham, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, a roll and dessert.

If anyone would like to drop off a dessert to help out it would be greatly appreciated.

Each year Cunningham and his church prepare for weeks to serve this hot Christmas meal to show what the love of God looks like to the community.

Their church mission: Connecting people to Christ by learning and sharing God’s Word, loving them to maturity, and helping them to use their gifts and talents to magnify God.

In John 21:15-17 Jesus gave Peter a command to “Feed my sheep.” Each time Jesus said “Feed my sheep” was in response to Peter’s declaration of his love for Jesus.

Jesus’ command to “Feed my sheep” was not just literal but spiritual.

Cunningham still prays that individuals are blessed by this simple gesture of love each year and that his church will always be willing to serve others like Christ.

The church has fed over 500 or more souls in the past 14 years, but expects more this year and is preparing to feed as many as 700.
