TEXANNA KILLING
With two bullet holes in his head, Heck Downing, a prominent young farmer living three miles west of Texanna, 20 miles south of Muskogee, was found late Saturday night in a gulch near Texanna and just a few yards from the highway.
Ten yards from the body the horse that he had ridden away from home several hours earlier was tied to a tree. The condition of the ground where the body lay gave evidence that the dead man had fought his assailant fiercely. Ten feet from the body lay a 45. caliber revolver cocked, with every chamber in the cylinder loaded.
