The City of Checotah had its Christmas Tree Lighting Contest and businesses and organizations did their best to light up down Broadway again this year.
City Councilman Mike Key stated he was pleased with all the hard work and effort of everyone involved with this community project.
“It’s just nice to see all the lights as you’re driving into town,” Key said. “It truly makes the season bright.”
Checotah’s city crew helped to get lights on and electricity to the Christmas trees. From church inspired manger scenes to Santa and ski jackets, there’s something for everyone to love this year.
Winners in the noncommercial division were: 1st place – First Baptist Church 2nd place – Checotah FFA 3rd place – Liberty Riders Winners in the commercial division were: 1st place – Terry’s Roofing 2nd place – Adventures in Head Start 3rd place – Boomerang The Broadway Trees will be lit up until January for everyone to enjoy.
