Alvin George Dearmore Jr.

Alvin George Dearmore, Jr., passed away peacefully, at his home, on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the age of 68. He was born on Saturday, Dec. 31, 1955, in Hawthorne, California to Alvin George and Dorothy Mae (Lane) Dearmore.

As a young boy, he moved with his family to Checotah, where he received his education, graduating from Checotah High School in 1974.

Alvin began working for Wood Light manufacturing where he made lamps. He married the love of his life, Leona Chronister on Saturday, Feb. 1, 1975, in Checotah.

Alvin went to work for a brief time at Colburn Optical, before beginning a career spanning many years at Acme Engineering, retiring as an Assembly Line Worker at the age of 49. He then began spending his days at Richey’s Pawn Shop and Checotah Gun and Pawn.

Alvin was an avid OU fan, enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a daily visitor to the Checotah Donut Shop.

He will be remembered by his family as a loving, devoted husband, wonderful daddy and the best papa ever. Alvin is greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Dearmore, and an infant brother, Lonnie Jim Dearmore.

Alvin is lovingly survived by his wife, Leona of the home; daughter, Sparkle Ann Harrell, her children, Rylee Ann Harrell and her fiancé, Cruze Whitmus, Jaycee May Harrell and Kaytee Lou Funberg ; Alvin’s great -grandchildren, Parker Ann Harrell, Mazie Jeann Harrell, all of Checotah; his mother, Dorothy Mae Dearmore; brother-inlaw, Randy Chronister of Checotah; sisters-inlaw, Neoma Mann and her husband, Rick, of Checotah, Noni Teel of Tulsa and her companion, Mike Thomas of Bristow; nieces and nephews, Trina, Tommy, Jesse, Cody, Casey, Craig and Miss Sugar.

Alvin is also lovingly survived by many cousins, numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, a very special friend, Joey Marion and a lifetime of friends. Services celebrating the life of Alvin were held Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at Checotah Church of Christ with Mr. Curtis Hartshorn, ministering.

Committal Prayers and Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Tommy Chronister, Jesse Chronister, Cody Chronister, Casey Hamm, Brycen Wood and Dillon Wood, served as Casket Bearers. Joey Marion and Michael Phillips served as Honorary Casket Bearers.
