City council wrap up for Feb.

Members present at the Checotah City Council this month were Councilman Earnest Myers, Councilman Jay Hayes, Councilman Joey Marion, Councilman Ronnie Brinsfield, Councilman William Wiles, Councilman Tony Fields, Council woman Jodi Greenleaf, Councilman Mike Key.

Several citizens voiced their concerns on an agenda item that was stricken from the agenda pertaining to the Chief of Police being an appointed or elected position. After fourteen citizen comments the general meeting continued.

In regular scheduled business: • A motion was approved to nominate Michael Bailey and Craig Stephenson for the OMAG Board of Trustees.

• A motion was approved to increase the price of cremation service on Saturday &/or a holiday from $150 to $300.

• A motion was approved to change the name of the CIDA sinking fund bank account to CIDA Opportunity Fund.

• A motion was approved on reappointing the following people and terms for the CIDA board: Robert Jennings for 1-year term Joseph M. Meador for 1-year term David Prince for 1-year term Darren Armstrong for 2-year term Hoss Durrett for 2-year term Laurie Burkhalter for 3-year term Kim Emerson for 3-year term

• A motion was approved on reappointing the following people to Planning and Zoning with a 3-year term: Mark McCullough Jewell Benson Mark Shores Jewett Nelson

• A motion was approved on Ordinance 608, Junk Vehicles.

• A motion was approved to pay an invoice in the amount of $22,650.19 to Williams Chevrolet to repair the city ambulance.

• A motion was approved to adopt a county emergency plan for the City of Checotah.

• A motion was made and approved on Ordinance 609 Amending the Checotah City Code, By Amending Chapter 2, Administration; Article III, Officers and Employees; By Amending Section 2-57, Street Commissioner Abolished; and By Amending Section 2-55, Compensation of Elective Officers; Providing for Repealer, Severability, and Declaring An Emergency.

• A motion was also made by Councilman Mike Key and seconded by Councilman Ronnie Brinsfield on declaring it an emergency.Motion was carried and approved.

Stricken before the meeting on the agenda was the city council considering and acting upon including amendments on Ordinance 610 Amending The Checotah City Code, by Adding Chapter 29, Law Enforcement; Article 1, in General; Section 29-1, Police Department; and Section 29-2, City Marshal; Chapter 2, Administration; Article III, Officers and Employees; By Amending Section 2-55, Compensation of Elective Officers; Providing For Repealer, Severability, and Declaring an Emergency.

The approving RFQ for Engineering Services was also tabled.
