Still has suit against lawman who allegedly shot her

Julie Huff was shot multiple times as she was held hostage by a man who robbed the Bank of Eufaula in 2016 and killed bank President Randy Peterson.

Huff filed a civil suit against a dozen or more individuals and government agencies fol- lowing the tragic events, including city, county and state governments, lawmen and many others.

Over the past seven years some suits were settled or dismissed.

One case that is still pending in federal court in Muskogee is against OHP Trooper Christopher Reeves, whom she claims shot her. A trial in that case has been set for July 22.

A civil trial was to have begun in McIntosh County District Court on April 1 for most of the unsettled lawsuits.

However, according to the Court Clerk’s office a settlement has been reached and the trial was canceled.

Terms of the settlement had not been released at press time.

The events of that horrendous day eight years ago unfolded on Jan. 26, 2016, when a ex-convict who had fled Texas in a stolen car walked into the Bank of Eufaula and without provocation shot Peterson.

Cedric Norris, a cross-dresser with a long criminal history, shot and wounded another bank employee as he attempted to rob the bank.

Initial statements by witnesses at the robbery said two women had robbed the bank.

Huff was a customer in the bank at the time and was taken hostage by Norris.

The killer fled with his hostage north on U.S. 69 Highway and took the Onapa Road exit and went west. The fleeing killer was stopped moments later by a cadre of lawmen who were in pursuit.

The suspect reportedly jumped out of the car with Huff and began firing.

Huff reportedly was shot in the leg and fell to the ground, but then was shot at least eight more times.
