The theme of the meeting was the Fourth of July.
The decorations were inspiring. We had tablecloths decorated in red, white and blue, miniature American flags, hats, candy and much more.
The hostesses were Carol Evans, Joy Hamilton and Kit Lund. You could see their hard work with all the festivity! The door prizes were gift certificates to Fox & Friends, a great surprise! Nice job, ladies.
Our guest speaker was Joanne McMillan, known to many as the Puppet Lady. She brought a stage full of her creations and took us on a tour through her life of artistic change.
With the permission and full support of her mother, Joanne began her life making hand puppets and putting on her own shows in her backyard. She used anything she could find to build her puppets and stages.
Joanne made a name for herself in several states teaching history in elementary schools, the stories being told by her puppets.
Joanne’s puppets became larger and much more ornate. She even learned to walk on stilts to manipulate the giant creations.
Moving on to showing family history on lovely, flowing garments, her creativity is still growing and changing. Keep a look out for her appearances!
