A Eufaula man charged with beating his brother and girlfriend was bound over for trial following a preliminary hearing on July 16.
Lemuel Ray Ballard, 39, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, domestic assault and battery by strangulation and assault with a dangerous weapon.
District 18 Special District Judge Brian McLaughlin set Aug. 7 at 9 a.m. for Ballard’s District Court arraignment.
At a competency hearing on May 28, the defendant was found competent to stand trial.
Ballard was arrested at his residence east of Eufaula on Jan. 1.
Following a domestic violence call, District Attorney’s Office District 25 Investigator Kevin Branscum was sent to the suspect’s address where he found Ballard’s girlfriend, Sabrina Dunlap, and Ballard’s brother, Marion Windle Ballard, being assaulted.
At a court appearance on Jan. 4, Associate District Judge Brendon Bridges entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the defendant and set bond at $750,000.
