The Checotah Lady Wildcats (4-2) shut out the Okmulgee Bulldogs 10-0 on Friday. The Lady Wildcats scored first in the bottom of the first inning after Shyanne Madewell grounded out, and senior first baseman Sidney Hamilton walked, each scoring one run. A double by up and coming star Aurora Madewell extended the lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second.

Hailey Prince struck out an impressive seven Lady Bulldogs. Kora Hall appeared in relief and did a great job for head coach Levi Walker. Both Kami Hamm and Madewell went 2-for-2 and drove in two runs each in the victory.

On Thursday Checotah defeated Booker T. Washington 4-3. The Lady Wildcats got on the board in the top of the first after Aurora Madewell tripled and Shaelynn Casey singled, each scoring one run.

Makyah Black added to Checotah’s lead in the top of the second on an inside the park home run. Sydnie West also homered in the top of the fourth to make the score 4-0.

Casey earned the win for Checotah from the pitcher’s circle. She surrendered four hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking two.

The Lady Wildcats lost to Beggs 1-0. Layna Vandiver, Madewell and Sidney Hamilton each collected one hit for the Lady Wildcats. Hailey Prince took the loss for Checotah (2-1) and went four innings, giving up one run (zero earned) on one hit, striking out seven and walking one.

Checotah pulled away 11-8 to win in a high scoring game against Sallisaw Central as Kami Hamm and Shyanne Madewell both led the Lady Wildcats with two hits and two RBIs. Hailey Prince had a good day in the pitcher’s circle going 6.2 innings and giving up two earned runs on seven hits while striking out an impressive nine. Kora Hall appeared in relief. Checotah led 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning and then scored in the bottom of the fourth added six runs on three hits to lead 9-2. Central scored five runs in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to 9-7.

“I’m very happy with how they played. It was a slow start but the team battled through it and began to have some fun and it showed at the plate. They began to put some points on the board and they never stopped playing hard,” Checotah head coach Levi Walker said.
