Lady Wildcats shut out Sallisaw 10-0
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

Sophomore Aurora Madewell drove in four runs on two hits to lead Checotah Lady Wildcats past Sallisaw 10-0 as the Lady Wildcats scored all of their runs in the third inning.

Senior pitcher Hailey Prince allowed just one hit over 3.2 innings and struck out eight. The Lady Wildcats (13-4, 3-1 District 4A-6 as of press time) piled up 10 hits in the game. Kami Hamm and Shaelynn Casey both collected two hits to help lead Checotah to the victory.

“I’m so proud of how this team has come together and played as a unit. Sallisaw is a wellcoached team and for us to overcome a slow start and finish like we did is something everyone can be proud of,” Checotah head coach Levi Walker said.

On Tuesday, the Lady Wildcats topped Okemah 13-5. Hailey Prince had one of her best games of the season as she hammered in four runs on two hits. Prince was on fire at the plate as she hit a home run in the first inning, scoring three runs and doubled in the second inning, scoring a run.

“Hailey had a great game today. This team has been getting better with each game and you can see that they are becoming a whole unit and having fun out there,” Head coach Levi Walker said.

Checotah scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Shyanne Madewell singled, scoring two runs, Aurora Madewell singled, scoring a run. Shaelynn Casey doubled, scoring a run, and an error scored a run.

Shaelynn Casey earned the win from the pitcher’s circle as she allowed seven hits and five runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one.

Kami Hamm went 2-for-3, Prince 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Shyanne Madewell 2-for-3 and Sydnie West went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the victory.
