The Class of Checotah has been practicing literally day and night as they prepare for marching season and marching contests all over the region. On Mandatory Monday night practices, the band can be heard outside on the Middle School parking lot practicing from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The community was invited to wear pink this past Friday to support Checotah’s Marching Band and the Checotah Color Guard as they prepared for their first competition this weekend. The band members and color guard did not disappoint their fans or their hometown when they brought back top earnings in every category.
At the Haskell Invitational Checotah received the following ratings:
• 1st in Class
• 1st Drum Major in Class
• 1st Color Guard in Class
• 1st Percussion in Class
• Overall Top Color Guard Ensemble
“The Class of Checotah and the Checotah Color Guard both crushed it at their first contest,” Band Director Ashley Hackler said. “We are so proud of these hard working kids and want to thank everyone who made it possible. These kids have put in the hours, literally practicing day and night, and it definitely showed on the field.”
On Friday, the Class of Checotah and the Color Guard will perform during the home game when Checotah takes on Locust Grove and then they will compete Saturday at the Eufaula Marching Contest.
