Lincoln Christian tops Wildcats 62-12
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The No. 1 ranked Lincoln Christian Bulldogs (8-0, 5-0 District 3A-3) put on a show Friday night at Ray Grandstaff Stadium on both sides of the football as they claimed a 62-12 victory over the Checotah Wildcats in a hard fought game. (5-3, 3-2 District 3A-3).

The Bulldogs led 35-0 when the Wildcats put points on the scoreboard.

The Wildcats brought their determination to the field and made some great plays like Elijah Thomas’ 99yard kickoff return and quarterback Cole Rolland’s 27-yard touchdown pass to Kaden Rice.

Lincoln Christian’s defense was tough as they only allowed 73 rushing yards for the Wildcats. Jayden Ellen rushed for 62 yards. Rolland finished with 111 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Elijah Thomas had five receptions for 53 yards and Rice finished with 45 yards and a touchdown. Checotah finished with 41 plays for 184 yards.

Lincoln had 570 yards offensively on just 50 plays, while holding the talented Checotah offense in check as the Bulldogs raced out to a big halftime lead.

The Bulldogs scored four touchdowns in each of the 1st and 2nd quarters, taking a 5512 lead into the locker room.

Lincoln ran for 357 yards as a team, averaging 9.6 yards per attempt. The defense got things started on the opening drive for Lincoln, as the Bulldogs held on 4th and 1 from the Checotah 29.

Davi Fernandes scored on a two-yard touchdown, capping off a 14-play, 72-yard drive that spanned seven minutes.

Breaden Baker ran seven times for 106 yards while Dawson Fullingim had six carries for 100 yards.

The Bulldogs will look to inch closer to their 7th straight district title next week when the Bulldogs host Eufaula.
