Bohannon and Folkners close out Cross Season at State
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

Area cross-country athletes closed out the season Saturday at the State meet at Edmond Santa Fe in Edmond. Eufaula freshman Baylor Bohannon finished 109 out of 145 participants with a time of 19:08.58.

“I’m extremely happy for Baylor. In just his first year he made it to state and that is an accomplishment in itself. Eufaula has a young team and we’re looking forward to being back here next year,” Eufaula head coach Derek Gray said.

Zachary Williams of Cache High School placed first as an individual with a time of 15:35.55, Ty Brooks of Lincoln Christian placed second 15:50.21 and Ethan Jones of Cache placed third with a time of 15:54.85.

Checotah seniors Ruby and Ruthy Folkner placed 40th and 103rd out of 143 participants. Ruby placed 40th with a time of 13:29.27 and Ruthy, who had a cold and was under the weather, placed 103rd with a time of 14:29.33.

“I’m very proud of these girls. This is a great way to end their varsity career that they made it to state. I couldn’t be more proud of how they competed today. This is a tough field and the course was demanding. I’m so happy for these sisters. How many sisters can say that both went to state,” Checotah head coach Wes Cloud said.

Baylee Woodrich of Lincoln Christian placed first as an individual with a time of 11:23.09 followed by teammate Tennyson Housley 11:37.41 and Amidat Olokunola of Cache placed third with a time of 11:46.28.
