Suspect wanted for abandoning pet dog arrested on stolen vehicle charge

On Aug. 30 Checotah police issued a misdemeanor warrant for the arrest of Enid resident Jazmine Shaneen Roberts, 30, on a charge of abandoning a pet dog.

Police didn’t hear from Roberts again until Oct. 18, when she and a second suspect were arrested by sheriff’s deputies on felony charges of possessing a stolen vehicle.

The second suspect, Nathan Charles Rock, 27, of Porum ,also was charged with receiving/concealing stolen property, a misdemeanor.

Rock was arrested on Oct. 22 and bond was set at $20,000. He was ordered back to court on Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. for a pre-preliminary hearing conference.

Roberts was hit with the additional charges of receiving/concealing stolen property and with resisting an officer, also a misdemeanor.

Her bond was set at $5,000 and she also was ordered back to court on Nov. 13.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Dep. Sheriff Steven Meineke, on Oct. 17 he was dispatched to investigate a possible burglary in progress in the Duchess Creek and Dam Road area.

His investigation took him and several other deputies to a ranch where they located a stolen flatbed pickup.

Meineke reported finding the two suspects hiding in a house on the property.

“Contact was made with an unknown female who was yelling and screaming at deputies,” he said. “The female was not compliant and was not listening to officers’ commands.”

The female obstructed officers and resisted arrest.

The second suspect was found hiding in a shower inside the house.
