LOCAL LIBRARY NEWS
By HEATH ALLEN

The holiday season is in high gear, and the Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library is here to help spread great stories and good cheer!

Find out if you’re on the “naughty list” by entering our 12 Days of Christmas drawing. One patron on the “nice list” will win a prize each weekday from Dec. 2 – 17. Patrons can join the nice list by checking out books from the library once a day through Nov. 30. As the prize drawings begin, so will our Letters to Santa event. You can leave your letters at the library through Dec. 6. Santa has offered to retrieve the letters himself, in exchange for some extra cookies and milk.

Our usual weekly activities will continue through the first three weeks of December. Storytime Tuesday for toddlers and kids will feature holiday themes. Keep warm through the winter with our senior- friendly workout classes. SAIL classes are Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and our Tai Chi class meets on Thursday mornings. Our adult education classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays first thing in the morning. Finally, the weekend kicks off with DND Friday. Young Adults and Teens take over the manager’s office in the afternoon for another exciting chapter in their ongoing collaborative storytelling experience.

But wait, we have more holiday happenings planned for the third week of December! At 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, we are breaking out the popcorn machine for a Christmas Movie Night. If you are looking for holiday hijinks, you can learn how to improvise your own holiday shenanigans at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at our Improv for All Ages workshop. Our dedicated readers will enjoy a Christmas-themed Book Club, meeting at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19.

Due to the upcoming holidays, the library will be closed on Nov. 28 – 29, as well as Dec 24 – 25. For more information about our services, events, and programs at the Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library, please visit us at eols.org/checotah and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
