Class 3A top-ranked Lincoln Christian defeated No. 3 Sulphur 28-27 in the 2024 Oklahoma high school football state championship game Thursday night at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Chad Richison Stadium.
The Lincoln Christian junior quarterback Carter Ricke completed 10 of 12 passes for 175 yards and two scores. For the game, he was 12-of-17 passing for 186 yards and had three carries for 22 yards as he helped Lincoln Christian defend its title and finish 14-0 for the second straight season.
Sulphur running back Maddax Mobly had a big night for Sulphur, scoring all four of the team’s touchdowns and rushing for 133 yards on 25 carries. Also a linebacker, he had eight total tackles, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
The game came down to a two-point conversion attempt by Sulphur that came up a foot short of the goal line.
