I said this in my last year at the Checotah Sports Banquet: Elijah Thomas will be the next player from Checotah to play in the National Football League. Tracy Scroggins was dominant in the NFL as he played for the Detroit Lions and had his jersey retired. That’s what kind of impact he had in the NFL. Thomas solidified his position by signing his letter of commitment to OU on Wednesday becoming the third Wildcat to go to Norman behind Greg Dixon and David Shoemaker (1985).
Thomas will bring an arsenal of talent to Norman as a receiver, especially after receiver Nic Anderson and others jumped into the portal. Thomas has great athleticism, speed and agility and it will be revealed under new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle who will also bring in another top quarterback. Thomas made school history by being named the Gatorade Oklahoma Football Player of the Year. This is a great achievement and should not be taken lightly. Congratulations to Thomas and in the great words of Billy Sims: BOOMER SOONER.
1-2-3 break.
