Checotah Crossroads Classic breakdown

Saturday the Eufaula Ironheads finished as tournament runner-up as they lost to Muldrow, 56-36 in the Championship. The Ironheads gave up a 25-14 halftime lead and were outscored 24-3 in the third period. Maddox Bridges had 17 points for Eufaula (13-4).

Hilldale finished third with a 67-46 win over Stigler. The Hornets (7-7) led 21-13 at the half, but pulled away in the third period to stretch their advantage to 50-27. Cole Leach was the top scorer with 16 points while both Cole Marshall and Mason Forhan, who went 3-for-4 at the charity stripe, added 11.

Girls

The Checotah Lady Wildcats finished as consolation champions with a 49-38 win over Hilldale. Point guard Shyanne Madewell led the Lady Wildcats (9-6) with 21 points and went 5-for-8 at the line. Ruby Folkner added 11 points. The Lady Hornets (6-8) were led by Darien Diles and Ella Roach. Both scored nine points and were l-for-2 on free throws.

In the third place contest, Eufaula couldn’t keep up with Muldrow and lost 51-30. The Lady Ironheads fell behind 9-3 in the first period en route to a 21-8 deficit at the half. Maddie Ballard led Eufaula (7-10) with eight points.

FRIDAY’S ACTION

Eufaula defeated Stigler, 65-55. Keaton Parish and Maddox Bridges both had 15 points to top the Ironheads (13-3) with Jentry James adding 13 and Ty Sparks 11.

Keys topped Checotah in a nail-biter 51-47 contest to eliminate the hosts. The Wildcats (1-12) were led in scoring by RJ Womack with 11 points.

Hilldale lost 45-38 to Muldrow. Kaden McLemore had 13 points in the loss as the Hornets (6-7) will face Stigler for third place.

Girls

Hilldale won 67-50 over Stigler and secured its spot in Saturdays Consultation Championship. The Lady Hornets (6-7) jumped out to a quick 17-7 lead at the end of the first quarter before stretching it to 31-16 at the break. Darien Diles powered HHS with 23 points while Lilly Beverage chipped in with 12 points, all from threepoint range. Ella Roach added 10.

Checotah dominated to the tune of 60-16 as it defeated the Eufaula JV. Ruby Folkner led the Lady Wildcats with 21 points and hit six of her seven free throws.

Class 3A No. 6 Keys advanced to the championship with a win over Eufaula, 49-30. Maddie Ballard led the Lady Ironheads with 13 points while Olivia Hamby contributed nine.
