Spears announces candidacy for city council

Sherry Spears, a 57-year-old Republican, announced her candidacy for Checotah City Council Ward 1.

“I am a born and bred Oklahoman who has lived in Checotah since 1975. I attended Checotah Public Schools and graduated from Checotah High School in 1985.

“I have been married for 39 years to Samuel Spears and we have two children (Samantha and James) and five grandchildren.

“I have worked in Checotah my whole life. I have gotten to know the public by working at D & L Snack Shack to Pizza Hut to a church secretary for 13 years. I have also worked at People’s National Bank and currently work at Checotah Walmart Pharmacy.

“My goals when elected as the Ward 1 City Councilwoman:

• Represent the people of Checotah with honor and dignity

• Serve the community to the best of my knowledge and ability

• See Checotah grow and flourish

“Whatever task is set before me I will work diligently to see it completed as I represent Ward 1.”
