We Need Water
Fully half a dozen business buildings would now be under way in Checotah were it not for the fact that not sufficient water is available. But the want of water extends even farther than the building problems.
Romans, proprietor of the local steam laundry, has been compelled to close down his plant and ship his works to the city, the bathrooms of the city are idle for the same cause and in scores of homes the only supply is from the water wagon at so much per barrel.
Hayrack Ride to Council Hill
Pupils of the sixth, seventh and eighth grades, chaperoned by Mesdames Miller and Stidham, went to Council Hill last Saturday via the hayrack route for an outing.
During the afternoon a game of ball was pulled off between the Checotah and Council Hill teams, the former winning by a good margin.
It was a tired but happy company which returned home just before the shades of night.

I-40: the mother road
50 years since construction first began
It was a time punctuated with the birth of rock ’n roll, American graffiti and bell bottom pants.
The Federal government started construction on an interstate freeway which would travel coast to coast without a stop light.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of that highway: Interstate 40.
The interstate traverses the United States – 2,554 miles from Barstow, Calif. to Wilmington, N.C., slashing across the country much the way historic Route 66 did, taking with it private properties along the way. Much of the western portion of the highway follows the path of Route 66 from Oklahoma to Barstow.
