From a dream to a miracle in the making
By LADONNA RHODES STAFF WRITER

When Kathy Love had her first dream years ago, she saw a worship center where the ladies from Freedom House could come and worship as well as play games, etc.

Though she told the director, they both laughed at the probability and said, “Not happening. There’s no way.”

A couple years pass and Love has another dream of the same building in the west wing but this time the building is even fuller. One graduate is getting ready to get married. Others are playing games, painting and celebrating birthdays and all kinds of things.

Third times the charm three more years have passed and Love has the third dream of the same building, same location!

“This dream is still very vivid in my memory,” Love said. “I heard it loud and clear, ‘If you build it, they will come.’ A light, bright, cloud-like es- sence shined on the building and people were coming from all directions to just get in. Beautiful worship music was playing and people were falling on their faces in reverent worship.”

Fast forward to this past year as the foundation was laid and the building was erected. Finally Love could see her dream coming true. Unfortunately, the cost of building materials kept going up with the current inflation. This made Love question where the extra money would come from and how long it would take to actually get into the building.

“I didn’t know how God would do it; I just knew that He would work all things together for our good.

Though we had seen some pretty decent donations come in ($1,000 -$10,000) I still didn’t know how in the world we were possibly going to get it done by this year. Costs were going up and more people were having to worry about just putting food on their table. Yet God would still send by random individuals who would just show up or come in and give $20 here or $50 there.

These were the ones that amazed us because some were people we had never met before. Plus we had our annual banquet and auction which helped to bring in more finances but we were still a long ways from having the amount of money we needed to finish the project.

Then right before the end of the year, I got a phone call from a gentleman who stated he was going to give to the project and asked me to pray about the amount and he was going to do the same. So Julie and I prayed but kept the information to ourselves because he wanted to remain anonymous.

Meanwhile, we had two sizable checks come in that were $40,000 and $50,000. So we were excited and thankful for what God was doing, but we were still a long ways from paying off the building. And I mean a long ways.

However, right before the end of the year I got a phone call from the gentleman to come out to his home because he was going to write a check towards the Worship Center.

When we get there, he stated that he’s going to write a sizable amount and then he asked me how much we owed still on the building. I told him because of cost rising, it was going to take $500,000. Then he said, ‘Oh my. I wasn’t expecting that much. But God told me to pay it off. So I’m going to do what He told me to do.’

At first I think we stood there in shock and then we were in awe of what God was doing to bring this place of worship for our ladies to fruition.

The gentleman laughed and said he had never written a check for that large of an amount and he would have to get his wife’s signature also. Then we would have to go to the bank to verify the amount.

It was truly such a “But God” moment and we cried at the miracle He was literally placing in our hands for His glory.

When I look back at the dreams God had giving me and all the people’s hearts He had tugged at to give I truly as amazed at His work. Though there were many times we couldn’t see how it was going to all come together – He knew the plans He had for us, ‘plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future.’ Everything was in His hands and in His perfect timing. Now I can’t wait to see the dreams God showed me years ago become reality as we use this Worship Center for His Glory.

We just can’t thank everyone enough for praying and giving towards this project and we can’t wait to see what all God is going to do in this special place.”

Despite the recent weather, crews are continuing to work on the Worship Center with the hope of having everything complete by October of this year.

“I am believing God with everything within me that we are going to have the Worship Center’s grand opening on or around our barbecue banquet time the first part of this October and I can’t wait to see what God has in store.”
