Checotah Wildcats’ win streak roars on with dominant win over Stilwell
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Checotah Wildcats continued their scorching hot streak Tuesday night, torching the Stilwell Indians 11-1 and extending their win streak to three games, improving to 5-15 on the season.

The Wildcats wasted no time jumping on the board. Charles Collins crushed a double in the first inning, driving in two runs to give Checotah an early 2-0 lead. They piled on more damage in the second after a costly Stilwell error opened the door. Camden Ferguson delivered a clutch single to center field, scoring two more runs and stretching the lead to 4-0.

On the mound, Mason Rainbolt was nothing short of electric. The Wildcat ace was locked in, surrendering just one hit and no runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking four. He kept Stilwell guessing all night long.

Stilwell’s Juan Harris struggled early, giving up three runs without allowing a hit in just over an inning of work. His replacement allowed five hits and five runs (four earned) over nearly four innings, walking five and striking out six. Charles Collins also made an appearance in relief for Checotah.

At the plate, Collins and Dallas Carter led the offensive charge with two hits each. Carter went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Traegan Duvall showcased great discipline, drawing four walks. The team combined for 12 walks, showing a keen eye and patience at the plate.

Wildcats win a thriller over Keys in 13-12 Shootout

Just two days later, Checotah delivered another unforgettable performance, this time a dramatic 13-12 comeback victory over the Keys Cougars. In a back-and-forth slugfest, the Wildcats rallied late, scoring seven runs across the sixth and seventh innings to steal the win on the road.

“This team never gave up,” said head coach Levi Walker.

“We got hot at the right time and responded when it mattered most.”

Checotah took an early 6-3 lead in the fourth after a double from senior Dallas Carter, an RBI single from Eli Patterson, and a clutch base hit from Muhammad Rehman. In the final inning, Rehman came through again with a run-scoring single, followed by Caleb Elkins, who blasted a two-RBI single to give the Wildcats the lead for good.

Cale Thompson secured the win in relief, holding off Keys with a gritty performance, allowing one run but no hits in two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking three.

Checotah’s offense erupted for 14 hits. Rehman and Carter each tallied three hits, while Rehman, Duvall, and Patterson also swiped multiple bases, keeping the pressure on defensively.

Setback against Westville Checotah’s win streak came to an end Friday with a 14-9 loss to Westville. Eli Patterson took the loss, allowing 10 runs on just two hits while striking out three and walking four. Woodrow Spears was a bright spot at the plate, going 2-for-2.

From dominant pitching performances to clutch, late-game rallies, the Checotah Wildcats are finding their rhythm, and with their confidence growing, they’re looking more dangerous with every game.
