Severe weather expected Easter weekend

Stormy days lie ahead, according to McIntosh County Emergency Management Director Leslie Phillips.

Phillips reported that Saturday and Sunday are expected to be especially worrisome.

The National Weather Service reports that there is a 78 percent chance of thunderstorms on Saturday and a 75 percent chance of showers on Sunday.

Then there will be a respite of two days, followed by at least six days of chances of rain.

The NWS forecast calls for possible foul weather on these days: – Wednesday, April 23: 44 percent chance of scattered thundershowers.

– Thursday, April 24: 38 percent chance of scattered thundershowers.

– Friday, April 25: 43 percent chance of showers.

– Saturday, April 26: 31 percent chance of morning showers.

– Sunday, April 27: 49 percent chance of scattered thundershowers.

– Monday, April 28: 32 percent chance of morning showers.

Check the social media and other contacts with individual organizations that will host events on Saturday and Sunday, just to be sure the events will or will not be held.

One of the most anticipated events is the annual Epic Helicopter Egg Drop hosted by the Community Culture Church. The Egg drop is scheduled to take place Sunday, April 20, at 3 p.m. at the high school football field.

Several events are scheduled for Saturday, including:

Providence Eggstravaganza

Providence on the Lake will host its annual Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt beginning at noon Saturday, April 19 at Posey Park.

In addition to egg hunts, there will bounce houses, train rides, face paintings, hot dogs and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Egg hunting will be by age groups: 12:45 p.m. – 0 – 3 years 1:30 p.m.- 4-7 years 2:15 p.m. – 8-12 years Eufaula Manor egg hunt

On Saturday, April 19, Eufaula Manor, 1152 Eunice Burns Rd, will host an Easter event which will include an egg hunt for kids 5 and under at 1 p.m. and 6 and up at 1:30 p.m.

There will be prizes and candy.

This event is open to all.

Easter vendor show Jones Coffeehouse on Front Street will host an Easter Weekend Vendor Show on Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Robbers Cave egg hunt

Robbers Cave State Park will host an Easter Egg hunt Saturday, April 19, from noon to 2 p.m.

There are a few events before the predicted rains, including:

Sensory friendly Easter

Easter events begin quietly Thursday, April 17 with a “sensoryfriendly” Easter Bunny.

This is an event for children with sensory sensitivities, hosted by Total Rehab and Rehab-Visions.

For information call 918-423-2220.

The event at 617 S. Main St. lasts from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

It is described as a “quiet and calm environment with gentle interaction with the Easter Bunny, an adapted egg hunt for all to enjoy.”

Wampler Ford

On Friday. April 18, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sam Wampler’s Freedom Ford will host the Easter Extravaganza, featuring “egg hunts, Easter Bunny pictures, face painting, bounce houses and hot dogs.
