Luches Warrior, Sr.

Luches Warrior, Sr.

Feb. 19, 1954 – March 28, 2025

On Feb. 19, 1954, in Pierce, Oklahoma, a son was born to Luches Warrior, Sr. and Edna Mae (Robertson) Warrior and He was named Luches, Jr.

Luches attended Warrior Grade School, Pierce High School and graduated from the Checotah High School Class of 1972. He furthered his education and in 1990, he received a certificate in Technology of Body, Frame and Paint from American Technical Institute.

Luches gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Olive Star Baptist Church in the Warrior Community.

Also known as June or Pickle, was a man of many talents. He loved working on old cars and trucks, cooking on the smoker, enjoyed being with family and friends and he may have been your partner on the dance floor.

After retiring from McIntosh County, Luches was not a man to sit idle. He stayed busy working for himself doing concrete work, demolitions, hauling rock, tree jobs and raising his livestock. He was never a stranger to anyone.

Luches loved his horse, Texas, and the Checotah Roughriders, which he established in 2005.

The Roughriders participated in parades and opened for many events, such as Okmulgee Rodeo, Cowboys of Color and many more.

He was named The McIntosh County Democrat Citizen of the Year in March of 2025 for his goodness and kindness in Checotah and from coast to coast. He started the Checotah Roughriders Annual Toy Drive, which helped McIntosh County schools, bringing smiles to our young children. He also visited nursing homes during the Christmas season, bringing joy to our elders by delivering blankets, and gifts. He could tell you some stories that would have you laughing for days, like the time he had to get his horses out of jail.

No one will ever forget his infamous phrase, “That’ll Work.” Luches was loved by many, and his presence will be truly missed. He was a true Warrior and Cowboy.

Mr. Luches Warrior, Jr., while surrounded by family, his fight with cancer came to an end on March 28, 2025. Waiting to greet him at heaven’s gate; his parents, two siblings, his brother-inlaw, Michael Carter, and great-grandson Ti’re Warrior, Jr along with other relatives and close friends.

He is lovingly survived by his children; Loucreser (Pooh) Warrior of Oklahoma City, OK, Luches (Tray) Warrior III and Jaimie of Checotah, OK, MalcolmWarrior and Olivia of Checotah, OK, Trenda Caviness of Muskogee, OK; his sisters, Bonnie Whitfield of Oklahoma City, OK, Sandra Carter and Kathy Dan of Checotah, OK; his brothers Donald Warrior and Sandra, Duane Warrior and Tema, and Billy Ray Warrior all of Checotah, OK; seven grandchildren Kierra, Kobe, Kolyn, Ti’re, Terrence, Tae’Shaun, and Camia; six great-grandchildren Kinsley, Trevion, Sabrielle, Sariya, Serenity, Tyshawn, plus one on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Luches will take his Last Ride, by Horse Drawn Carriage on Saturday, April 12, 2025, beginning on North Main Street in Checotah, and then proceeding to the Checotah Performing Arts Center.

“The Final Roundup’ for Mr. Warrior commenced on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Checotah Performing Arts Center, where Pastor Ray Douglas Jr., Pastor of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, presided.

The Christian Committal immediately followed the services in the Warrior Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma.
