Gentry avenue from Front Street to Second Street, Front Street from Gentry to LaFayette Avenue and the business section of Broadway is to be paved with road asphalt and work will be underway in a short time.

The session of the city council last Thursday night was transferred to the Knights of Pythias Hall for two reasons. First, because it was far more comfortable and second, because of its seating capacity.

The conditions were right for rain during nearly every day last week but the much wanted and badly needed downpour held off until Saturday afternoon and then hardly laid the dust in the city.

In the country west of town, however, a soaking rain fell, filling the small streams as well as the corn and cotton rows and doing untold good.
