There was not a dull moment during the session of the city council last Thursday night, and every alderman as well as he mayor, clerk, attorney and engineer were present to take a hand in the proceedings.
A Session Saturday Night
If the members of the Checotah city council are not earning their salaries – well nobody is.
The regular session last Thursday night adjourned to Friday morning and it in turn was adjourned until Saturday night.
At this session a number of matters were considered, and it was near midnight when adjournment was again taken until tonight.

Banquet Employees
The Checotah Motor Company played the part of “hostess” on Tuesday night in a very beautifully appointed banquet at the Masonic dining room, their guests being the employees of the Eufaula Motor Co. and the Checotah Motor Cc.
Paving Brick Finally Arrives
After considerable delay the brick for the Checotah pavement began arriving last Friday, six cars being unloaded Saturday and Monday.
Another shipment is expected today and it is the hope of the contractors to begin the work of laying same the first of next week, at the latest.

Boy Jailed On Counterfeit Charge Eufaula, Jan. 29 – While John Shoemaker Jr., 19, is languishing in the county jail pending the arrival of a federal officer to investigate charges that the youth passed counterfeit money, his family consisting of a father and mother and seven other children, are being supported by charitable local citizens.
The boy was arrested last Friday when an investigation was made by the sheriff, because the mother had been begging on the street and then giving money to her husband, who was driving an expensive six-cylinder automobile
State Prosperous Despite National Business Decline
Norman, Jan. 30 – Oklahoma’s prosperity held firm during December although business conditions throughout the country slumped seriously.

TWO CHECOTAH BUILDINGS RAVAGED IN $15,000 FIRE Firemen Fight Furious Blaze With Heroism Disastrous flames of undetermined origin, which for a time threatened to burn the entire city block on south Broadway, destroyed the buildings occupied by the Frame Grocery and the Frame-Pierce dry goods store Friday morning.

LEE DIXSON, 38, HIT BY FREIGHT TRAIN, Injuries sustained when the truck he was driving was hit by a northbound freight train at the M.K.T. crossing near the Odd Fellows home about nine o’clock last Saturday morning proved fatal Tuesday to Lee Dixson, 38, Checotah.

Community garden to help feed the hungry The McIntosh County Extension Office has been working diligently the past few months to get their new community garden established.
McIntosh County Commissioners stopped by the county fairgrounds in Eufaula recently to see the new garden. It is primarily funded by a Health and Hunger Grant through the Community Nutrition Education Programs at OSU.
