CLPS meet at the Katy Depot

The Checotah Landmark Preservation Society have their general meetings the second Thursday of each month at the Katy Depot, located at the corner Paul Carr Drive and Emmy’s Way. Anyone interested in joining CLPS is encouraged to come and be a part of preserving Checotah’s history. You can also email katydepot.checotah@gmail.com for more information.

DAV McIntosh County Chapter #3 meets monthly The DAV McIntosh County Chapter #3 meets on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 11092 S. 4184 Rd., Checotah (1/2 mile west of Onapa Rd.) Come be a part of the Disabled American Veterans organization or if you are a veteran and need help filing a claim for VA Disability contact Pete Laughlin, DAV Commander for McIntosh County and veterans services officer at 918-8693263 or Brian Moore at 817-271-2037.

Heartland Heritage Museum & Gallery open to the public

The Heartland Heritage Museum & Gallery is full of all kinds of history to include authentic Indian artifacts to legendary cowboy memorabilia to country icons like Checotah’s own Carrie Underwood. Come by and tour everything the Heartland has to offer. The Heartland is open Mon. – Fri. from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday. Contact Iris Park at 405-570-3569.

Join the Checotah Art Guild

Come join in the fun of creating unique art pieces with the Checotah Art Guild. The CAG is always adding talented local artists who enjoy all forms of art and giving back to their community. Come meet up with talented friends for Open Art on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 p.m.

Lions Club host day and night meetings Checotah Lions Club hosts day and night meetings for members’ convenience. The noon day meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at noon at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. These meetings generally have guest speakers and a meal is served.

The night meetings are business only and held the fourth Thursday from 5:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. Come be a part of the Lions Club and help serve your community.

Texanna Lady Crafters

The Texanna Lady Crafters’ Shop is a non-profit craft and gift store. We are located on Texanna Road, 1 mile east of Highway 69, straight across from Dawn’s Place Cafe. We are open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Stop by and let us take a photo of you and your family in front of the Big Butterfly Board. Watch for the tall flags and drop in to see what’s new. We are always busy!

His Ability Ministries meet monthly

Join His Ability Ministries on the 2nd Thursday of each month for quality time together sharing God’s Word and enjoying snacks, games and crafts for all ages and abilities.

Fellowship starts at 6:30 p.m. at 401 N. Broadway, Checotah.

Least of These Food Ministry monthly distribution The Least of These Food Ministry offers free grocery distributions to anyone in Checotah or the surrounding area who struggles with food insecurities. Participants must provide ID and proof of residency. Grocery distribution is the third Friday of each month at 1 p.m. at the First Assembly of God located at 401 N. Broadway.

Eufaula Indian Community monthly meetings The Eufaula Indian Community meets on the last Thursday of every month at 800 Birkes Rd. in Eufaula. We will notify you of any changes or you can call the EIC office at 918-617-7587 to confirm.

Quilt Guild meets Wednesdays

The Piece Makers Quilt Guild of Eufaula is a guild that promotes an interest in quilts, quilt making and other sewing projects. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Pied Piper Pest Control building located on the corner

Respite Vouchers available for seniors raising children

Are you caring for a relative child under the age of 18? Do you need a break? The Caregiver Program might be just what you’re looking for. Respite Vouchers are a total $300 for a 3-month period. The Senior Raising Children can hire someone of their choosing to give them a much-needed break. For more information contact Alysa Kinnell, EODD Area Agency on Aging, Lead Social Services Specialist at 918-682-7891 or the SENIOR INFO LINE at 1-800-211-2116.

Respite voucher for caregivers

Are you caring for someone 60 years of age or older that needs assistance with dressing, walking, transferring, bathing, eating, or toileting? Do you assist someone with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, or Parkinson’s disease? The Caregiver Program might be just what you’re looking for. The Respite Vouchers are a total of $300 for a 3-month period.
