Woman barefoot and pulling toy wagon fights officer
By JERRY FINK MANAGING EDITOR

A barefooted 23-year-old Oktaha woman was walking near I-40, pulling a toy wagon missing its front wheels, has been arrested for assault and battery on a police officer, conspiracy to perform an act of violence and attempted escape.

Kyia Sharp made her initial appearance in McIntosh County District Court Monday morning.

Associate District Judge Brendon Bridges entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the suspect and set bond at $60,000. He set her next court appearance on July 8 at 9 a.m.

The confrontation took place at about midnight on June 19 in the area of Lotawatah Road and Oakwood Harbor.

In a Probable Cause affidavit, Deputy Sheriff Krista Ginn saw the woman dressed in all black, including a black tank top and black shorts, but no shoes.

“Her clothing was dirty and she was pulling a red plastic toy wagon, which only had the two back wheels attached. It had some clothes and some other items inside and a black slender flashlight she was using to see with,” according to the affidavit.

During a check, it was found she had warrants for her arrest in Mc-Intosh and Muskogee counties.

When Ginn attempted to arrest the suspect, the suspect resisted and said, “I have PTSD and did not need to go to jail.”

Sharp reportedly began pulling the officer’s hair.

The two wrestled over a taser gun.

The suspect was shot with the taser, but it reportedly had no effect.

“Kyia pulled the probes out and ran behind my patrol unit and up to the incline and went westbound down the fence line until I lost sight of her.”

The suspect was soon arrested and booked into the county jail.
