Bill Huddleston of Vype Magazine was in Eufaula at Sam Wampler’s Freedom Ford on Tuesday for a photo shoot for the magazine. Eufaula football players Peter Lee and Luke Hodgins represented the Eufaula Ironheads football team while Leah Green and Emma Lovett.
Leah Green and Emma Lovett are a part of a fast-pitch program that has been to the state tournament the last two seasons and finished with a 30-5 record falling to the defending state champions. Green started at the pitcher’s position as a freshman last season while Lovett played multiple positions. Both players will have to pick-up their game with the loss of graduating seniors Maddie Ballard, Jadence Efurd, Kate Pippenger and Kadie Jo Tidwell.
Luke Hodgins is a versatile athlete that has the skill set to play multiple positions from quarterback to linebacker. He has participated in many football camps over the summer including University of Arkansas, North Texas, UCO, Harding University, TCU (Texas Christian University) and SMU (Southern Methodist University). He has received an offer from Ivy League school Cornell University.
Camps he has been invited to in July are Henderson, Southern Nazarene, Southeastern, Pitt State in Kansas, East Central University and Emporia.
Peter Lee is one of the best running backs in the eastern side of Oklahoma. Lee is a strong runner that is super quick and has the power to run over or through defensive opponents.
Lee was named the Eufaula Indian Journal Most Valuable Player in 2024. Lee ran for 1506 yards on 197 carries with 15 touchdowns averaging 7.64 yards per carry. Lee also finished with 11 receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. Lee’s consistent effort throughout the season was a major factor in Eufaula offense.
