A 39-year-old Eufaula woman who had an outstanding warrant on an arson charge was arrested Wednesday, June 25, following a foot chase in a wooded area around south 7th Street in Eufaula.
Tamara Dean Kelly, 39, of Eufaula is charged with the misdemeanor offense of obstructing an officer. Associate District Judge Brendon Bridges entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the defendant and set bond at $3,000.
Court records show there is a warrant for her in Okmulgee County, where she was charged on May 6 with third degree arson but failed to appear at a hearing.
Officer Jonathan Laughlin in a probable cause report said he assisted Lt. Tyler Lewis who was looking for the suspect in the Lakeridge apartment complex on the south side of Eufaula.
Laughlin said he was talking to some construction workers when he saw the suspect running along the south wood line, adjacent to an adjoining pasture.
He yelled for her to stop and gave chase on foot, crossing two barbed wire fences before he caught her and placed her in hand restraints.
At that point Chief David Bryning arrived and helped escort the suspect back to Laughlin’s patrol car.
Deputies Matthew Youngblood and Chad Breazeale assisted.
