Class of Checotah band students were recently recognized at Texoma Marching Arts and Leadership Academy (TMALA). TMALA Band Leadership was led by Ryan Edgmon, Director of Bands for Mustang Public Schools from July 7-11 in Ardmore. TMALA is under the direction of Chauvin D. Aaron and Jack Francis.
At the leadership academy students are immersed in marching band culture to develop real-world rehearsal and leadership skills through hands-on participation and music rehearsals.
Checotah Band Director Ashley Hackler went on social media and congratulated Class of Checotah flute player, Alivya Strong, and trombone player, Jordan Boland.
“I would like to say congratulations to Alivya and Jordan and all of these students who attended TMALA,” Hackler said. “All six of the students pictured below are a part of the Class of Checotah 2025-26 Leadership Team. They all went above and beyond this year and hopefully have restarted the tradition of Checotah band students attending local camps to enhance their performance abilities, develop their leadership skills and make some new friends along the way.”
