A 21-year-old McAlester man was one of four passengers on a large tube being towed by a 2014 Master Craft on Lake Eufaula when the tube hit a wave and threw the victims off, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Dillon Vicars reportedly was the only passenger injured in the incident. He was transported by Air Care to Saint Francis in Tulsa due to his injuries, including a fractured hip and broken femur.
The incident took place on Sunday, Aug. 3, around 2:30 p.m. about a mile from Longtown between SH 9 and Bedford Beach in Pittsburg County.
The driver of the craft was Zac Friestad, 22, of McAlester.
Other passengers included Melanie Friestad, 55; a juvenile from McAlester; Alex Junior, 29, Nashville, Tenn.; Autumn Regan, 21, McAlester; Jaxon Walters, 23, McAlester; and Emma Laudermilk, 21, also from McAlester.
Everyone on the boat was wearing flotation devices.
