We’d like to brag on Eufaula’s new City Manager, Jacob Foos, and the City Council members James Hickman, Tisha Morgan, Roger Barton and Evelyn Gulley. They took notice of what was happening at the pound and saw the need for improvements and enhancements.
At the pound, the City Public Works crew knocked it out of the park with fresh painted floors, removing a dilapidated building from the backyard and installing a new bathing station to wash the dogs.
The Council also hired a new animal control person, Tala Whisenhunt, to pick up dogs, do morning feedings seven days a week as well as assisting with meter reading and Main Street beautification, which is wonderful.
We are grateful that the City of Eufaula entered into an official agreement with Paws N Claws to be the sole adopting entity for the pound. This means we will do all the advertising, coordinating and facilitating all adoptions of any dog that comes through the pound. We also do the afternoon feedings and are helping out the pound by decorating the walls with pictures of all the pound dogs rescued since we started volunteering over a year ago.
We are beyond pleased that the City saw the need to help promote adoption rather than euthanasia and that these dogs will also be spayed or neutered to help control the pet population. They have really stepped up to make the pound the priority it needed to be.
