Man arrested for lewd act

A 64-year-old Checotah man has been arrested after allegedly performing a lewd act in front of a woman and her two children.

Randy Dwayne Stegall is charged with indecent exposure and performing a lewd act in the presence of a minor. Bond has been set at $200,000. pre-preliminary hearing conference will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug 19.

In a probable cause affidavit, Checotah Police Officer Ryan Goad stated that on Wednesday, July 23 at noon he was sent to an address on West Knisley after receiving a report that a man later identified as Stegall was sitting in a chair performing a lewd act on himself in a fenced yard with its gate open.

The caller was the husband of the woman who witnessed the alleged crime. According to police, she was taking her children for a walk past the suspect’s address when the incident occurred.

While waiting for police, Goad said the woman videotaped the incident as she sat in her car.

Stigall allegedly was looking at the woman’s house next door while he was performing the act.

Goad said when police arrived, they could not locate the suspect at his residence, but made contact with him at about 8 p.m. that night at Oakwood Harbor with the assistance of Deputy Sheriff Matt Youngblood.
