Area softball teams off to a great start; first week of football scrimmages

Congratulations to the Eufaula and Checotah fast-pitch softball teams for getting off to a great start. As of Monday, Eufaula stands at 3-1 overall while the Lady Wildcats are 2-1. Both teams lost some great seniors from last year’s teams but each team now has some underclassmen that have stepped up to fill the void in addition to seniors that have great leadership characteristics.

Friday will mark the first football scrimmage of the season for Eufaula and Checotah. The Wildcats will be looking to see what receiver steps up to fill the void left by Elijah Thomas while the Ironheads will be looking to see who will be their starting quarterback.

Eufaula travels to Morris while Checotah will host the Sallisaw Black Diamonds Friday at 6 p.m.
